The first car in the world to be mass-produced (64 examples) and to be driven in Italy (1893), the Type 3 ran from Valentigney to Paris and followed the first Paris-Brest-Paris cycle race over a distance of 2,045 km.

SEPARATION OF TRADITIONAL AND AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURING
The sons of PEUGEOT Brothers continued to manufacture traditional products (cycles, tools, etc.) while Armand PEUGEOT created the Société Anonyme des Automobiles PEUGEOT.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST FACTORY AT AUDINCOURT, DOUBS
Installation of the first dedicated automobile plant at Audincourt. A second factory was built at Lille in 1898.

PRODUCTION OF PEUGEOT LION CARS
The sons of PEUGEOT Brothers also moved into automobile production under the PEUGEOT Lion name with different models from automobiles PEUGEOT, so as to avoid being in competition.

Creation of l'aventure PEUGEOT, an association under the law of 1901, whose aim was to safeguard the heritage of the PEUGEOT brands.

Start of production of coffee mills for domestic and commercial (grocers, cafés etc.) use. Now licensing rights have been granted but the mills are still made using the original mechanism.

BIRTH OF THE 201
First car to use the "middle zero" nomenclature. For the first time in the world, it was equipped with independently-sprung front wheels as standard in 1931. Its success helped PEUGEOT to weather the effects of the financial crash.

401, "THE ECLIPSE”
1st car with folding roof produced by PEUGEOT.
This idea was used in production on 401, 402 and 601 and then taken up again on 206, 207, 307 and 308CC (Paulin patented system).

THE FIRST DIESEL ENGINES IN SOCHAUX
PEUGEOT began marketing diesel engines in 1928 and started production of the HL50 engine, which was used in all commercial vehicles, followed by the 402 limousine. Production stopped in 1939 (global conflict).

BIRTH OF THE ELECTRIC PEUGEOT
In order to combat fuel restrictions, PEUGEOT starts manufacturing the VLV (Véhicule Léger Électrique [Light Electric Vehicle]) producing 377 units.

403, A PEUGEOT Signed PININFARINA
The 403 was the first French car to be fitted with a diesel engine in series production, and in 1959 became the first car in the world to be fitted with an electromagnetic declutching fan (PEUGEOT patent).

The 204 was the first front-wheel drive PEUGEOT, with a light alloy overhead cam engine, transverse gearbox, 4 independently-sprung wheels and front disc brakes.

The PEUGEOT 504 Saloon and the 504 V6 Coupé won the Bandama Rally twice and the Morocco Rallye twice (1975, 1976) as well as the Safari Rally and the Rallye de Côte d'Ivoire in 1978.

THE 205 T16 MYTH
Under the sporting direction of Jean TODT, the 205 Turbo 16 showed a very high speed and won a string of victories (manufacturer and driver's world championship titles).

Its successes chimed with the general public, increasing sales of the 205 and allowing PEUGEOT to keep its head above water in a difficult economic period.

In the wake of two victories and records at the Pikes Peak race, the 405 T1, driven by Ari Vatanen, won the 1989 and 1990 Paris Dakar.

THE 905 EATS UP THE TRACK
The 905 won three races in 1991 and five in 1992, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and became world champion. The peak came in 93 with a historic triple in Le Mans, the 905 occupying all 3 places on the podium.

The 908 Turbo Diesel FAP soine in endurance events: 2nd in 2007 and 2008 at the 24H of Le Mans.

NEW RECORD AT PIKES PEAK
PEUGEOT broke the Pikes Peak hill-climb record with the 208 T16 Pikes Peak and nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien LOEB. A historic time of 8min 13s 878 still unmatched.

A RETURN TO RALLY-RAID
After a first race in South America for the Dakar, the PEUGEOT 2008 DKR won a double in the China Silk Road Rally with Stéphane PETERHANSEL 1st and Cyril DESPRES, 2nd.

Team PEUGEOT-Hansen crowned FIA World RX Team World Champion.

2008 DKR RALLY-RAID WINS
Only one year after its return to rally-raid, PEUGEOT won the Dakar Rally. Six months later, the brand won the Silk Way Rally between Moscow and Beijing.

SÉBASTIEN LOEB TO REPRESENT PEUGEOT
After his brilliant performances in the Dakar with the PEUGEOT Total Team (4 stage wins in his first participation), Sébastien LOEB joined the PEUGEOT-Hansen Rally-Cross Team the same year. PEUGEOT wins the vice-world champion manufacturer title with the 208WRX.
2017
THE YEAR OF THE 3008
Only one year after its return to rally-raid, PEUGEOT was crowned winner of the Dakar Rally with the most successful team in the history of the race, PETERHANSEL / COTTRET. 6 months later, their team-mates Cyril DESPRES / David CASTERA were victorious in the Silk Way Rally, between Moscow and Beijing.

PEUGEOT 208 WR, 2 WINS BY SÉBASTIEN LOEB
PEUGEOT officially entered as a factory team with the PEUGEOT TOTAL team with the PEUGEOT 208 WRX with 2 wins by Sébastien Loeb.

RETURN TO WEC
PEUGEOT announced its return to the WEC and began working on the design of the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercar.
PEUGEOT unveiled the powertrain for the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercar in 2020.

208 RALLY4, LEADER IN ITS CLASS
Marketing of the PEUGEOT 208 Rally4, a rally car intended for customer competition programmes in 2019.
In 2022, the 208 Rally4 was the world market leader in the Rally4 category with over 300 cars sold worldwide.
9X8, PERFORMANCE
REINVENTED
Less than a year after the revelation of its concept, the PEUGEOT TotalEnergies Team marked its competition début in the summer of 2022 and ran in 3 races.
In 2023, it will participate in its first full WEC season (7 races).
