While driving your Peugeot vehicle, have you ever noticed a warning or indicator light flashing on your dashboard? Well, fret not, as here is a list of what each light indicates to help you better understand your vehicle. Actions to take upon seeing each light is also provided, so you will know exactly what to do if and when you encounter one. This information is also handily available in your Peugeot Owners Handbook.

ADVANCED-DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM

Door(s) open.
Indicator light on, associated with a message identifying the access.
A door or the tailgate is not properly closed (speed less than 6 mph (10 km/h)).
Indicator light on, associated with a message identifying the access, accompanied by an audible signal.
A door or the tailgate is not properly closed (speed above 6 mph (10 km/h)).

Seat belts not fastened/unfastened.
Indicator light on or flashing, followed by increasing audible signal.
A seat belt has not been fastened or has been fastened.

Electric parking brake.
Indicator light on.
The parking brake is applied.
Indicator light flashing.
Application or releasing the parking brake is faulty.
You must stop the vehicle, park on flat ground or surface.
► With the manual gearbox, engage a gear.
► With an automatic gearbox or drive selector, select mode P.
Switch off the ignition and contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Low fuel level (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on,with the blocks lit red or with the reserve level shown in red, together with an audible signal or with the display of a message.
When it first comes on, there are approximately 5 litres of fuel remaining in the tank (reserve). Until the fuel level is topped up, this alert will be repeated every time the ignition is switched on, with increasing frequency as the fuel level decreases and approaches zero
► Refuel without delay to avoid running out of fuel

Front passenger airbag (ON).
Indicator light on.
The front passenger airbag is activated. The control is set to the "ON" position.
► In this case, do not install a "rearward facing" child seat on the front passenger seat - risk of serious injury!

Front passenger airbag (OFF).
Indicator light on.
The front passenger airbag is deactivated. The control is set to the “OFF” position.
►A "rearward facing" child seat can be installed, unless there is a fault with the airbags (Airbags warning lamp on).

Parking sensors.
Indicator light on, accompanied by an onscreen message and an audible signal.
The system is deactivated.

Rear foglamps.
Indicator light on.
The lamps are on.

Stop & Start (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on, accompanied by the display of a message.
The Stop & Start system has been deactivated manually.
► The engine will not switch off at the next traffic stop.
Indicator light on.
The Stop & Start system has been deactivated automatically.
► The engine will not switch off at the next traffic stop, there are certain requirements need to achieved in order to operate the start and stop function.
Indicator light flashing then light on, accompanied by the display of a message.
The system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Automatic functions deactivated (electric parking brake).
Indicator light on.
The "automatic application" (on switching off the engine) and "automatic release" (on acceleration) functions are deactivated.
► If automatic application/release is no longer possible:
1.Start the engine.
2. Use the control to apply the electric parking brake.
3. Take your foot fully off the brake pedal.
4. Hold the control pressed in the release direction for between 10 and 15 seconds.
5. Release the control.
6. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
7. Pull the control in the application direction for 2 seconds.
8. Release the control and the brake pedal.

Engine self-diagnostic system (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light flashing.
The engine management system has a fault.
► There is a risk that the catalytic converter will be destroyed. You must contact a PEUGEOT authorized workshop.
Indicator light on.
The emissions control system has a fault.
► The warning lamp should go off when the engine is started. Go to a PEUGEOT authorized workshop without delay.

Engine self-diagnostic system (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on.
A minor engine fault has been detected.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

12V battery charge.
Indicator light on.
The battery charging circuit is faulty (e.g., dirty terminals, loose or severed alternator belt).
You must stop the vehicle. If the electric parking brake stops working, immobilise the vehicle:
► With the manual gearbox, engage a gear.
► With the automatic gearbox, fit the chocks against one of the wheels.
Clean and tighten the terminals. If the warning lamp does not go off when the engine is started, Contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

STOP.
Indicator light on, together with another warning lamp, accompanied by the display of a message and an audible signal.
A serious fault with the engine, braking system, power steering or automatic gearbox or a major electrical fault has been detected.
► You must stop the vehicle, then contact a PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Engine self-diagnostics system (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on.
A major engine fault has been detected.
► You must stop the vehicle, then contact a PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Maximum coolant temperature (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on only or with display blocks lit in red.
The temperature of the cooling system is too high.
► You must stop the vehicle, then wait until the engine has cooled down.
► If the problem persists, contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Engine oil pressure (Petrol or Diesel).
Indicator light on.
There is a fault with the engine lubrication system.
► You must stop the vehicle, contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Airbags.
Indicator light on.
One of the airbags or seat belt pyrotechnic pretensioners is faulty.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Under-inflation.
Indicator light on,
The pressure in one or more tyres is too low.
► Check the pressure of the tyres as soon as possible. Reinitialise the detection system after adjusting the pressure.

Under-inflation.
Under-inflation indicator lamp flashing then flight on, and Service warning lamp light on.
The tyre pressure monitoring system is faulty.
► Under-inflation detection is no longer monitored.
► Check the tyre pressures as soon as possible and go to a PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Indicator light on.
The anti-lock braking system has a fault.
► The vehicle retains conventional braking. Drive carefully at moderate speed, then go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Braking.
Indicator light on.
A minor fault with the braking system has been detected.
► Please go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Braking.
Indicator light on.
The brake fluid level in the braking circuit has dropped crucially.
► You must stop the vehicle, then contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Braking.
Indicator light on.
The electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) system is faulty.
► You must stop the vehicle.
► Contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Power steering.
Indicator light on.
The power steering has a fault.
► Drive carefully at moderate speed, then go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Service.
Temporarily on, accompanied by the display of a message.
One or more minor faults, for which there is/are no specific warning lamp(s), have been detected.
► Identify the cause of the fault using the message displayed on the instrument panel.
► For other faults, such as with the tyre under-inflation detection system, go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.
Indicator remain on, together with the display of a message.
One or more major faults, for which there is/are no specific warning lamp(s), have been detected.
► Identify the cause of the fault using the message displayed on the instrument panel, then go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Release not available (with electric parking brake).
Indicator light on followed by the message "Parking brake fault”.
Automatic release of the electric parking brake is unavailable.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Malfunction (with electric parking brake).
Indicator light on followed by the message "Parking brake fault”.
The vehicle cannot be immobilised with the engine running.
► If manual application and release commands are not working, the electric parking brake control is faulty.
► The automatic functions must be used at all times and are automatically reactivated in the event of a fault with the control.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Malfunction (with electric parking brake).
Indicator light on followed by the message "Parking brake fault”.
The parking brake is faulty: manual and automatic functions may not be working.
► When stationary, to immobilise the vehicle:
1. Pull the electric parking brake control and hold it for approximately 7 to 15 seconds, until the indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.
► If this procedure does not work, secure the vehicle:
1. Park on a level surface.
2. With an automatic gearbox, select P, then place the supplied chocks against one of the wheels.
► Contact PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Collision Risk Alert/Active Safety Brake.
Indicator or light flashing.
The system activates and brakes the vehicle momentarily to reduce the speed of collision with the vehicle in front.
Indicator light on, followed by a message and an audible signal.
The system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Collision Risk Alert/Active Safety Brake.
Indicator light on.
The system has a fault.
► If these warning lamps come on after the engine is switched off and then restarted, go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Dynamic stability control (DSC)/Anti-slip regulation (ASR).
Indicator light on.
The system is deactivated.
► The DSC/ASR system is reactivated automatically when the vehicle is restarted, and at speeds above approximately 31 mph (50 km/h). At speeds below 31 mph (50 km/h), it can be reactivated manually.

Dynamic stability control (DSC)/Anti-slip regulation (ASR).
Indicator light flashing.
DSC/ASR system regulation is activated in the event of a loss of grip or trajectory.
Indicator light on.
The DSC/ASR system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop

Emergency brake malfunction (with electric parking brake).
Indicator light on, together with the message “Parking Brake Fault”.
Emergency braking does not deliver optimal performance.
► If automatic release is not available, go to a PEUGEOT authorized workshop.
Hill start assist.
Indicator light on, together with the message “Anti roll-back system fault”.
The system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Lane keeping assist.
Indicator light on.
The system has been automatically deactivated or placed on standby.
Indicator light flashing.
You are about to cross a broken lane marking without operating the direction indicators.
► The system is activated, then corrects the trajectory if it detects a risk of unintentionally crossing a line or hard shoulder.

Lane keeping assist.
Indicator light on.
The system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.

Lane positioning assist.
Indicator light on, accompanied by the Service warning lamp.
The system has a fault.
► Go to PEUGEOT authorized workshop.
